About the Opportunity

ContiTech Australia is now seeking a full-time Plant Safety Manager to join their team in Bayswater, Victoria. 

Reporting to the Plant Manager, your main responsibility will be to provide hands-on management and implementation of health and safety protocols for the plant. You will also be responsible for inspecting company facilities to detect existing or potential accident/health hazards and recommending corrective or preventative measures. 

Some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Monitoring the effectiveness of the Health, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems in driving continuous improvement;
  • Continuing to build and cultivate Work Health, Safety, and Environmental best practice culture through effective relationships, consultation, and training to foster individual engagement and ownership;
  • Working with the business leaders to plan and prioritise  safety activities to drive a safety culture throughout the organisation;
  • Driving cultural change that empowers site leadership to effectively manage safety performance;
  • Engaging the plant in the prevention and reduction of workplace injuries;
  • Providing guidance and direction to enable risk management processes that identify control risks;
  • Developing and implementing annual risk prioritised Safety/Injury Management Action plans; and
  • Liaising with auditors for certification requirements and National audit scheduling.

To be successful in this position, you must hold formal Health and Safety Management qualification/s and 14001/18001 internal auditor certifications.

Candidates will also need demonstrated experience in a similar role or be looking to take the next step in their career within the manufacturing industry. You will need a strong knowledge of Local OH&S regulations and legislation and also Risk Management principles.

It is also key that you have previous experience with safety systems and cultural development plus strong analytical skills and attention to detail. As will the ability to cultivate relationships and networks to engage with others.

Most importantly, the successful candidate will be a hands-on worker and strong change manager. This role is 30 percent admin and 70 percent operational work. As such, you will be an engaging leader with excellent organisation and time-management skills. It is also essential that you have a positive attitude towards safety, engaging with others, and strong change management skills.
